North American Alumni Register
IT Center Information Memorandum
LETTERS TO THE ALUMNI
|
Dear Fellow Aloysians, It
gives me great pleasure to write to you all. Some
of you may recall that in the middle of August last year, a few of the Aloysians
met in Long Island, New York and had a wonderful brainstorming. It
was in that meeting that we came up with the idea of building a network of
the Aloysius College alumni in North America and created ANNA (Aloysian
Network of North America) Web site. A
few of you were highly supportive of the idea and visited the Web site and
registered. And we thank you for all the encouragement. The 9/11
tragedy and its aftermath, and also the recessionary economic
atmosphere in the U.S., forced us to soft-pedal the idea in the past
one year. We are once again taking up the initiative and ask for your
active and continuous support to build a strong and vibrant network that we
all can enjoy and benefit from. Thanks
largely to the Internet, networking among friends and keeping in touch with
family has become so easy, efficient and cost effective. Many schools
and professional groups have realized the positive power of the modern
technology and are getting the maximum benefit of the technological
developments by establishing Web-based alumni networks. (For example, FENG
-- Financial Executive Network Group of 12,000+ members is actively helping
members find senior executive positions). Let's learn from them and
others and try to use this new technolgy for the benefit of our alumni
and their families. ANNA
could be a highly resourceful organization in the coming few months and
years. It could help us find our old class/batch mates, get to
know them better, exchange important news, assist with pertinent information
such as job openings or interview tips, share humour, announce events, and even
find business associates! The potential is immense. It is up to us
to develop the network and get the best out it. As we go forward, we count
on your support, participation and advice to make ANNA a wonderful network. In the
last few months we also have been following the progress of various new
projects in St. Aloysius, and particularly of the IT Center project. In
consultation with the Management, particularly with Fr. Denzil Lobo, the
Director of the IT Center, we have put together an Information Memorandum for
the benefit of potential donors to this admirable project. We
are attaching the Executive Summary of this detailed document and urge you to
visit the ANNA Web site and if interested, download the whole document by clicking
here. Do
give us your feedback and kindly support the project in any manner possible.
Also, please feel free to circulate the Information Memorandum to any potential
donors. We
are also glad to announce the following: --
Next annual alumni meet will take place on Jan. 12th at St. Aloysius,
Mangalore. (Please try to attend, especially if you will be in India
during that time!) --
The IT Center building is going to be ready soon and will be inaugurated in
January 2003 (during the Alumni meet) by President of India, Dr. Abdul
Kalam --
Fr. Denzil Lobo, Director of IT Center is planning a short visit to the U.S. and
will be able to meet with the alumni in a few cities --
We are creating a Roster of Volunteers in North America that will help coordinate
the networking and building of ANNA. (Please email if you can assist
in specific way from your city/town.) That's
all for now friends, and hope you will keep visiting the Web site: http://anna.wso.net and
keep in touch! Best
wishes, Tony
